President Shirai visited Universität Karlsruhe

 

Prof. Dr. K. Shirai, President of Waseda University, Tokyo Japan, accompanied by a delegation from Waseda University visited Universität Karlsruhe on March 11, 2009. Welcomed by Rektor Hippler, the host gave afterwards a comprehensive overview of KIT. Main topic of the get-together was a discussion on the further interACT-cooperation which was signed in September 2008.

President Shirai also visited the laboratories of Prof. R. Dillmann, where the humanoid robot ARMAR-III was demonstrated in a kitchen environment. Demonstrations on speech processing and vision in the laboratory of interACT-director Prof. Alex Waibel concluded the visit.

It was agreed between the interACT partners to strengthen the further collaboration. Student exchanges, research stays, distinguished lectures, summer academies and joint research are planned for 2009.
